What is

counselling?

Counselling is a confidential talking therapy.

The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) describes it as “a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a trained professional about your issues and concerns. Your therapist will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and of others.”

It is a collaborative process, with the aim to better understand difficult feelings (such as anxiety, depression, anger, irritability) or help you navigate challenging situations, such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown, redundancy, and health issues (to name a few).

How does it work?

I work in an integrative way, which means I use a variety of different theories and modalities to help me work my clients.

That said, a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy and understanding is the foundation of my practice. Everything else is built from that.

I offer a brief introductory call (they usually last about 15-20 minutes) so we can get an understanding on how we can work together.

If you then want to proceed with a counselling session, all you need to do is let me know whether you would prefer to meet online or face-to-face, and we’ll arrange a suitable date and time to meet for our first session.

Face-to-face sessions are in Fermanagh House (Enniskillen).
